NOSSA MISSÃO :
“Diminuir a Incidência de DST/Aids e Hepatites, Tuberculose e Gravidez Inesperada, promovendo a Responsabilidade Sexual”
O Barong possui uma equipe multidisciplinar formada por Agentes de Saúde, Psicólogas, Sexólogas, Médica Sanitarista e Arte-educadores que desenvolvem atividades como:
- Ações de rua com a unidade móvel onde são realizados Aconselhamentos Psicológicos Gratuitos, Encaminhamentos para exames de HIV e outras DST em serviços públicos, Oficinas de uso correto dos preservativos feminino e masculino e Performances teatrais.
- Mercado Social do Preservativo: venda de Preservativos (aromatizados, texturizados e convencionais) a preço popular em pontos alternativos como lanchonetes, bancas de jornal, locadoras de vídeo e cabelereiros, entre outros.
- Capacitações e palestras em escolas, empresas e comunidades.
O Barong foi criado em 1995 com a finalidade de contribuir na luta contra as DST/Aids e hepatites.
Com o propósito de promover a saúde sexual nós, do Barong, desenvolvemos vários projetos utilizando diversas técnicas de comunicação, sempre com criatividade e bom humor.
Somos portanto uma Ong itinerante cuja equipe multidisciplinar está sempre disposta a mobilizar a população no tocante à saúde sexual, respeitando e buscando compreender seu contexto social e cultural.
Acreditamos que o acesso à informação sobre saúde sexual é um direito do ser humano. Portanto, através de nossa proposta itinerante, levamos a informação e a possibilidade de reflexão.

Who is and what does Barong:
Our mission...
Barong was established in 1995, aiming to promote the sexual education, health and reproduction among the population. Therefore, our most striking features are the informality and humor when dealing with such matters, approaching people from all different segments and making campaigns throughout the city in “NGO in the Street” manner.
The itinerant approach is the differentiating feature of our NGO: our volunteers go out on the streets in a mobile unit properly equipped for giving workshops on sexual and reproductive health, and referrals for HIV testing/AIDS/ STD, Hepatitis and Tuberculosis in public services.
The Barong philosophy is “ be where life happens”. Our campaigns take place in leisure hours, when our mobile unit with a 5 meters condom installed on its roof, is traveling to beaches, parks, school trip campings, universities etc..
Our institution is also developing specific projects on abuse of licit and illicit psychoactive substances, through the harm reduction strategy.
Besides all these actions, Barong is providing trainings and lectures in schools, companies and communities and is a pioneer in working with differential condoms sold at lower prices in alternative sales-points, known as the Social Market of Condoms.
In order to develop and implement all this increasing number and types of projects, Barong created a multidisciplinary team, involving health workers, psychologists, sexologists, sanitary doctors and art educators who believe that the access to proper information about sexual health is a right of every person; therefore, the main reason of our team work is to raise to the public the opportunity of reflection.
